SEP 22:Commissioner Secretary of the Housing and Urban Development Department, Mandeep Kaur, visited Ganderbal today as part of the Sewa Parv programme organized by the Municipal Council Ganderbal. The event aimed to promote citizen engagement and bring essential services closer to the community.

While addressing the gathering, Mandeep Kaur emphasized that Sewa Parv is a significant initiative that focuses on strengthening the government’s connection with the public. Its core purpose is to ensure that people have access to various public services at their doorsteps, bridging the gap between governance and the citizenry.

During her visit, she also shared an important development regarding the formulation of a Master Plan for Ganderbal town. She highlighted that the plan would be grounded in current realities and local needs, aiming to guide the growth and development of the district in a sustainable and structured manner.

As part of the day’s activities, Mandeep Kaur flagged off a cycle race that saw enthusiastic participation from the youth. The event symbolized both community involvement and the promotion of healthy living.

In addition, she launched a plantation drive, promoting environmental consciousness and green initiatives in the region. This was followed by the distribution of cheques to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) and PM SVANidhi schemes, offering financial support for housing and street vendors.

These initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to holistic development and citizen welfare, especially in urban areas like Ganderbal. The day-long Sewa Parv events showcased the collaborative efforts of the administration and local bodies in transforming public service delivery, urban infrastructure, and socio-economic well-being.

Mandeep Kaur’s visit reinforced the government’s proactive approach in listening to people’s needs and translating policy into action on the ground.
