NOV 11: Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, announced a ₹100 crore Call for Proposals to support pilot projects developing green hydrogen from biomass and waste materials, under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). Speaking at the 3rd International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH-2025) in New Delhi, he said the initiative would foster innovation and help India’s transition to clean energy while creating new jobs and investments.

The Minister also unveiled the official NGHM logo, selected from over 2,500 entries, symbolizing the nation’s collective commitment to sustainability. He noted that launched in 2023 with an outlay of ₹19,744 crore, the Mission positions India as a global hub for green hydrogen, aiming to decarbonize hard-to-abate sectors and ensure energy independence.

Under the Mission’s SIGHT programme, incentives have been granted for 3,000 MW of electrolyser manufacturing and 8.62 lakh metric tonnes of green hydrogen production annually. India now reports the world’s lowest green ammonia price at ₹49.75 per kg. The Ministry has also supported pilot projects in green steel, hydrogen-fuelled vehicles, and refuelling stations.

Highlighting workforce development, Joshi said 43 hydrogen-related skill qualifications have been approved and over 6,300 trainees certified. With 128 technical standards and certification schemes in place, India aims to power all green hydrogen production through renewable sources.

Secretary MNRE Santosh Kumar Sarangi said the Mission is set to mobilise ₹8 lakh crore investment, create six lakh jobs, and save ₹1 lakh crore in fossil-fuel imports annually. He emphasized that India is on track to achieve 500 GW renewable capacity by 2030, strengthening its position as a global leader in green hydrogen production and exports.
