Feb 4: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Rakesh Minhas, today reviewed the progress and implementation of key centrally sponsored health schemes in the district, including Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSSK), and the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).

The review meeting focused on assessing ground-level implementation, identifying gaps, and strengthening coordination among health officials to ensure effective service delivery across all blocks of Jammu district.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of robust monitoring mechanisms, timely reporting and enhanced field-level outreach, particularly in rural and underserved areas. He directed health officials to ensure that the intended beneficiaries are fully aware of the schemes and receive benefits without delay or procedural hurdles.

Highlighting maternal and child healthcare as a priority, DC Jammu underlined the need for efficient execution of JSY and JSSK, which aim to reduce maternal and infant mortality by providing financial assistance, free institutional delivery, and essential healthcare services for pregnant women and newborns.

Reviewing the progress of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, the Deputy Commissioner called for intensified screening, early diagnosis, uninterrupted treatment and community awareness to achieve the national goal of eliminating tuberculosis. He emphasized inter-departmental coordination and active involvement of frontline health workers to strengthen TB surveillance and treatment adherence.

DC Jammu directed officials to maintain accurate and up-to-date data, ensure regular field inspections, and submit reports within stipulated timelines. He stressed that data-driven decision-making is crucial for identifying bottlenecks and improving healthcare outcomes.

The Deputy Commissioner assured full administrative support to the health department for addressing logistical, manpower and infrastructure-related challenges. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare systems and ensuring that quality health services reach every citizen, especially women, children and vulnerable groups.

Health officials briefed the Deputy Commissioner on scheme-wise achievements, challenges faced at the grassroots level, and ongoing initiatives to improve outreach and service delivery. The meeting concluded with instructions to intensify monitoring, enhance beneficiary engagement, and ensure accountability at all levels.

The review reflects the Jammu district administration’s sustained focus on improving healthcare delivery, strengthening public health infrastructure and ensuring effective implementation of welfare schemes for the well-being of the people.
