10 July, JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Paul Sharma has accused the National Conference (NC)-led government of failing to deliver on the promises made to the people during the Assembly elections. He asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would continue to act as a responsible opposition by highlighting public grievances and demanding accountability from the government.
Speaking during a meeting of senior BJP leaders at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, Sharma said the expectations of the people had not been met since the NC government assumed office. He alleged that several key issues affecting the daily lives of citizens remain unresolved despite the assurances made during the election campaign.
According to Sharma, concerns related to unemployment, inflation, power supply, drinking water, road connectivity, and civic infrastructure continue to trouble residents across different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. He claimed that the government has not made sufficient progress in addressing these challenges and urged it to focus on fulfilling its commitments to the public.
The BJP leader said his party would consistently raise issues of public importance both inside and outside the legislature. He maintained that the opposition has a constitutional responsibility to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective governance, while also giving voice to the concerns of the people.
During the meeting, senior BJP leaders reviewed the prevailing political scenario in Jammu and Kashmir and discussed strategies to strengthen the party’s organisational structure and outreach programmes. Party workers were encouraged to remain connected with the public, understand local issues, and actively participate in addressing community concerns.
Sharma emphasized that the BJP would continue to engage with citizens at the grassroots level and work towards finding solutions to issues affecting different sections of society. He said regular interaction with the public would help the party better represent people’s aspirations and hold the government accountable for its performance.
He also urged party leaders and workers to intensify public outreach initiatives and ensure that government shortcomings are brought to the attention of the concerned authorities. According to him, constructive criticism and public engagement are essential components of a healthy democratic system.
The meeting was attended by several senior BJP functionaries, legislators, and office-bearers, who deliberated on organisational matters, upcoming political programmes, and plans to expand the party’s presence across the Union Territory. Discussions also focused on strengthening coordination among party workers to effectively address local issues.
Political observers note that the exchange of criticism between the ruling National Conference and the opposition BJP reflects the evolving political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir following the formation of the elected government. With both parties intensifying their outreach efforts, political activity is expected to remain active in the coming months.
Sharma reiterated that the BJP remains committed to safeguarding public interests and ensuring that development, governance, and welfare remain central to political discourse. He said the party would continue to monitor the government’s performance while advocating policies aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
As political engagement continues across the Union Territory, issues such as employment, infrastructure, public services, and development are likely to remain at the forefront of the debate between the ruling government and the opposition.
