Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia Assumes Role of AOM

SEP 01: Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia, AVSM, VSM, today assumed charge as the Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) at the Indian Air Force Headquarters. Soon after taking over, he paid tribute to fallen heroes by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.

Commissioned in September 1988 into the Aeronautical Engineering branch of the IAF, Air Marshal Ghuratia has built a distinguished career spanning 37 years. An accomplished electrical engineer, he is an alumnus of GEC Jabalpur, BITS Pilani, and Madras University, and holds a Doctorate from Bhopal University. He has also undergone professional military education at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the Air Force Test Pilot School, Bengaluru, and the Air Force Technical College, Bengaluru.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, London, the Aeronautical Society of India, and the Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers. Additionally, he is a Lead Auditor for ISO 45000 (OH & SMS) and an Associate Member of the Society of Flight Test Engineers, USA.

Throughout his service, Air Marshal Ghuratia has held key command and staff positions in the IAF as well as in a UN Mission in Congo, where he was commended by the Force Commander. Prior to his current assignment, he was serving as the Senior Maintenance Staff Officer at HQ Maintenance Command.

For his exemplary service, he has been conferred with the Vishisht Seva Medal (2016) and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2025) by the President of India.

Air Marshal Ghuratia is married to Mrs. Archana, and the couple is blessed with two daughters.
