OCT 03: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, today inaugurated the Sabar Dairy Plant in Rohtak, Haryana, in the presence of Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, Union Ministers Krishan Pal Gurjar and Rao Inderjit Singh, among other dignitaries.
Built at a cost of ₹350 crore, the plant is the country’s largest facility for producing curd, buttermilk, yogurt, and sweets. With a daily production capacity of 150 metric tonnes of curd, 10 metric tonnes of yogurt, 3 lakh liters of buttermilk, and 10,000 kg of sweets, the plant will cater to the Delhi–NCR demand and become a symbol of prosperity for dairy farmers.
Shri Amit Shah said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, a strong foundation for the cooperative movement has been laid, ensuring that by 2029, every panchayat in the country will have a cooperative society. He credited the separate Ministry of Cooperation, created in 2021, for strengthening cooperative structures nationwide.
Highlighting India’s rapid progress, Shri Shah stated that the dairy sector has grown by 70% in the last 11 years, making it the fastest-growing in the world. Milk production rose from 146 million tonnes in 2014–15 to 239 million tonnes in 2025, with per capita milk availability increasing from 124 grams to 471 grams. Today, over 8 crore farmers are connected to the dairy sector.
He further announced that under White Revolution 2.0, the government will establish 75,000 new dairy societies and strengthen 46,000 existing cooperatives. India’s milk processing capacity, currently 66 million liters per day, is targeted to reach 100 million liters per day by 2028–29.
Shri Shah also stressed on modern livestock breeding, beekeeping, organic farming, and biogas initiatives, underlining the government’s vision for a self-reliant dairy sector through R&D and accelerated plant construction.
