OCT 27:Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today underscored that climate justice is a moral duty for India and a cornerstone of global climate action, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to equitable and sustainable environmental responsibility.
Sharing an article on social media, the Prime Minister responded to a post by Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav, who emphasized India’s approach toward fair and inclusive climate policies.
In a post from the PMO India handle, the Prime Minister highlighted the Minister’s insights, noting:
The discussion reflects India’s consistent stance that climate action must be rooted in justice, equity, and shared responsibility, especially given the disproportionate burden faced by developing nations despite contributing the least to global emissions.
India has repeatedly advocated for grant-based, non-debt climate financing, urging developed countries to honour their commitments under global agreements. The Prime Minister’s message reinforces India’s leadership role in advancing a balanced, inclusive, and human-centric climate agenda.
The article shared by the Prime Minister also calls for stronger international cooperation, ethical responsibility, and acknowledgment of the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities — ensuring that all nations contribute to climate action according to their capabilities and historical roles.
