JULY 30: In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) convened a high-level review meeting under the chairmanship of Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav to finalize a comprehensive civic activity plan aimed at public engagement, environmental conservation, and community-driven development.
During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of combining national pride with civic responsibility, stating that Independence Day is an opportunity to both celebrate freedom and strengthen community values. The Corporation has planned a citywide Green-Clean City campaign, which includes a series of events promoting cleanliness, sustainability, and citizen participation.
A key highlight of the plan is a plantation drive across Jammu, with saplings to be planted in parks, public institutions, roadside areas, and other urban spaces. The initiative aims to enhance the city’s green cover and foster a culture of ecological responsibility among residents.
In alignment with the Swachh Bharat Mission, a cleanliness-themed marathon will be held to mobilize citizens, raise awareness on hygiene, and reinforce the message of collective cleanliness. The event is expected to attract wide participation from different sections of society.
The JMC will also launch awareness programs on key issues including solid waste management, water conservation, sanitation, animal welfare, floriculture, and digital governance. These initiatives are designed to educate communities and encourage responsible civic behavior.
Dr. Yadav called for active inter-departmental coordination to ensure smooth execution of all scheduled activities. Senior officials from multiple departments, including health, engineering, veterinary services, floriculture, transport, and public outreach, attended the meeting and presented their plans and suggestions.
The Commissioner urged all stakeholders, officials, and residents to actively participate in the planned initiatives, reinforcing the city’s commitment to becoming a cleaner, greener, and more citizen-centric urban center.
