SEP 30: The Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy (PCIM&H) successfully celebrated Hindi Pakhwada (Hindi Fortnight) 2025 from 14th to 29th September with a series of cultural events and competitions. The celebrations began on Hindi Diwas, coinciding with the Fifth All India Rajbhasha Conference held at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, where three PCIM&H representatives participated in the inaugural programme.
Over the two-week celebration, a wide range of competitions were organized in both Hindi and non-Hindi speaking categories. These included Essay Writing, Hindi Dictionary Knowledge, Self-Composed Poetry, Debate, Rajbhasha Antakshari, and Encouragement Awards for Hindi Work. The activities aimed to encourage greater use of Hindi in official communication while showcasing its cultural richness.
A highlight of the celebration was the Hindi Kavi Sammelan held on 25th September at the Dhanvantari Auditorium. Chaired by Dr. Raman Mohan Singh, Director PCIM&H, the event brought together eminent poets such as Dr. Anju Lata Singh, Shri Raj Kaushik, and Shri Kuldeep Bartaria, who were honoured with traditional felicitation. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sweta Mohan, Rajbhasha Officer, and anchored by Dr. Anupam Maurya, Scientific Officer – Chemistry.
During the seminar, the Director urged staff members to adopt Hindi more widely in official work, underlining its importance as a unifying and accessible language. The event highlighted Hindi’s role in cultural expression and administrative functioning.
More than 110 participants, including officers from PCIM&H and the Drug Standardization Research Institute (DSRI), actively took part in the events. The fortnight concluded on 29th September with a closing ceremony graced by Dr. G. P. Garg, former Chief Chemist, Ministry of AYUSH, as Chief Guest. Winners of the competitions were felicitated with awards and certificates, marking the successful conclusion of the celebrations and reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to the progressive use of Hindi in governance.
