9 May: Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma has emphasized the need for balanced development, improved public services, and efficient governance in Jammu and Kashmir, while discussing key issues related to infrastructure, pilgrimage management, healthcare, and education.
In an exclusive interaction, Sunil Sharma highlighted ongoing efforts and future priorities for the development of the region, particularly focusing on Padder-Nagseni and other remote areas.
A major point of discussion was the upcoming Machail Mata Yatra, which attracts thousands of devotees every year. Sharma stressed the importance of ensuring proper infrastructure, road connectivity, safety arrangements, sanitation, and medical facilities for pilgrims visiting the shrine.
He said that smooth management of the yatra is essential not only for religious tourism but also for supporting the local economy and improving connectivity in mountainous areas. According to Sharma, coordinated efforts among departments are necessary to provide better facilities and ensure a safe pilgrimage experience.
On infrastructure development, the Leader of Opposition underlined the need for stronger road networks, reliable electricity supply, and improved public infrastructure in rural and far-flung regions. He stated that development should reach every section of society and that remote areas must receive equal attention.
Healthcare and education also featured prominently in the discussion. Sharma stressed the importance of strengthening healthcare facilities, ensuring availability of doctors, and improving access to quality medical services in underserved regions. He also called for enhanced educational infrastructure and better opportunities for students in rural areas.
Addressing broader public concerns, Sharma emphasized that governance should focus on timely delivery of services, transparency, and responsiveness to people’s issues. He noted that public trust is built through visible development and effective implementation of schemes on the ground.
The discussion reflected a wider focus on balancing development, public welfare, and cultural heritage in Jammu and Kashmir. Sharma reiterated that long-term progress would depend on sustained infrastructure growth, administrative efficiency, and active engagement with local communities.
His remarks come at a time when several developmental and tourism-related projects are being undertaken across the Union Territory to improve connectivity and public facilities.
