OCT 24: Indian Railways has announced an extensive set of arrangements to ensure a safe and comfortable return journey for passengers after Chhath Puja, operating 6,181 special trains across the country to help people reach their workplaces smoothly after the festive season.

To manage the heavy passenger rush, the Railways has established weather-proof holding areas at 30 major stations in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, including Patna, Danapur, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Darbhanga, Saharsa, and Gorakhpur. These areas are equipped with essential facilities like seating, lighting, drinking water, and crowd control systems. Additional coaches have been attached to regular trains to accommodate the surge in travelers.

Over the next three days, around 900 special train trips will operate nationwide. Passenger convenience has been further enhanced with Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), additional Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters, and mobile ticketing (m-UTS) services at busy stations.

To add a festive touch, devotional Chhath songs are being played at key stations including Patna, Hajipur, Bhagalpur, New Delhi, and Anand Vihar Terminal, immersing travelers in the cultural spirit of the festival.

The Railways has deployed Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, improved queue management systems, and established 24×7 War Rooms for real-time coordination. Additionally, medical booths with ambulance and fire services have been set up at stations like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Gaya to ensure passenger safety.

Passengers have appreciated these thoughtful measures, acknowledging Indian Railways’ efforts to deliver a comfortable, safe, and festive travel experience this Chhath Puja season.
