APRIL 16: In a concerted effort to tackle traffic violations and enhance road safety in the region, a comprehensive joint enforcement drive was carried out today across multiple locations in Jammu South, including key spots such as the Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge. The drive, aimed at ensuring strict adherence to traffic rules and the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA), was led by the District Administration in collaboration with several key agencies, including the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD), Traffic Police, and local Police.

The operation was spearheaded by Tehsildar South, Arti Bhardwaj, who coordinated the efforts of the enforcement teams. Alongside her, ARTO Flying Squad, Er. Bipen Singh Charak, Dy. SP Traffic South, Faisal Rishu, and ARTO Mohd. Salim provided essential leadership, ensuring that the operation covered a wide range of traffic issues and violations. Their combined efforts aimed to reduce accidents, regulate traffic flow, and ensure that motorists and pedestrians alike followed safety protocols.

The teams carried out inspections and checks at various critical locations throughout Jammu South. The Sher-e-Kashmir Bridge, one of the busiest routes in the region, was a key focus area, as authorities sought to curb the common issues of overspeeding, illegal parking, and improper lane usage that often occur in high-traffic zones. Additionally, the enforcement drive sought to address violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, which has been a significant concern in recent times, with many drivers failing to adhere to basic regulations such as seat belt use, helmet laws, and overloading.

The joint drive also involved the participation of various Motor Vehicle Inspectors, including Er. Surinder Kumar, Er. C. S. Billowria, and Er. Azad Hussain, who assisted in the technical aspects of the inspection, ensuring that vehicles met the required standards for safety and compliance with environmental regulations. Other key members of the enforcement team included DTI Sameer Jillani, DTI Ravinder Singh, and MVTA Taranjot Singh, who worked diligently to issue fines and educate drivers on the importance of following traffic laws.

Speaking about the importance of such enforcement initiatives, authorities emphasized that road safety was a top priority for the government. The aim of the operation was not only to penalize violators but also to raise awareness about the importance of road safety, and promote a culture of responsible driving among the citizens of Jammu South. The drive also focused on creating a more disciplined traffic environment in the region, especially considering the growing number of vehicles on the road and the increasing incidences of traffic-related accidents.

This enforcement initiative is expected to continue in the coming days, with regular checks and inspections being carried out to ensure sustained compliance. The District Administration, along with its partner agencies, has committed to regularly reviewing traffic safety measures and expanding the scope of these drives to further improve road safety across Jammu and Kashmir.
