OCT 05: The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today chaired a meeting to address network coverage gaps in shadow areas across districts including Srinagar, Kupwara, Shopian, and Anantnag. The meeting focused on enhancing mobile connectivity through timely erection of telecom towers.

During the meeting, BSNL was instructed to submit a phase-wise report detailing all existing tower sites and the stages of ongoing work. The company was also urged to initiate construction at locations where land has already been transferred. To expedite the process, district administrations were directed to resolve any revenue-related or land transfer issues.

The Div Com emphasized the need to eliminate duplicate entries in the list of proposed tower sites to avoid redundancy and streamline the implementation process. Specific concerns were raised about erecting a tower near Dachigam Wildlife Park; officials were instructed to find an alternative site at Mulnar to prevent any conflicts with conservation efforts.

BSNL officers were advised to adopt a proactive approach, closely coordinating with district administrations and other concerned authorities to ensure smooth execution.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Kupwara, and Anantnag, Assistant Commissioner Central, DGM BSNL, OSD to Div Com, and other officials.

The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to bridging connectivity gaps in remote and underserved areas, ensuring residents benefit from reliable telecom services.
