OCT 11:The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the apex technical organization under the Ministry of Power, celebrated its 52nd Foundation Day on October 11, 2025, at the Auditorium, Library Building, Central Water Commission, New Delhi. The event focused on charting India’s power sector roadmap, including plans for achieving 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047 and enhancing transmission infrastructure in the North East.
Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He commended CEA’s instrumental role in planning, policy formulation, and technological innovation, emphasizing the Authority’s importance in ensuring reliable, affordable, and sustainable electricity supply. Highlighting India’s commitment to ‘Net-Zero by 2070,’ he stressed CEA’s leadership in integrating renewable energy, advancing nuclear capacity, and strengthening grid security.
Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, CEA, recalled the Authority’s achievements since its inception in 1973, including generation and transmission planning, modernization of the electricity grid, and establishment of technical standards. He underscored the growing importance of digitalization and data-driven decision-making in steering India’s power sector toward efficiency and sustainability.

Electrical Accident Data Monitoring System (EADMS) Portal, a digital initiative to monitor, analyze, and minimize electrical accidents nationwide.
The event also featured a special technical session on “Nuclear Energy for Net-Zero: Opportunities, Challenges, and Pathways,” with talks from eminent experts including Dr. R. B. Grover and Shri S. A. Bhardwaj. Industry representatives from NTPC, Tata Power, Adani Power, L&T, and EDF shared insights on technology adoption and collaboration.
The 52nd Foundation Day reaffirmed CEA’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and resilience in India’s power sector, highlighting its pivotal role in achieving a reliable, secure, and green energy future.
