F&ES Directorate Conducts Life-Saving CPR and Trauma Care Workshop in Jammu

May 6: The Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES), Jammu and Kashmir, hosted a vital CPR and Trauma Care Workshop at its Fire Training Centre (FTC), Bari Brahmana, in collaboration with People’s Hut Foundation and Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity. The one-day workshop focused on equipping fire trainees and staff with crucial life-saving skills to handle medical emergencies effectively.

The training initiative was held under the guidance of ADGP and Director F&ES, Shri Alok Kumar, who addressed the participants virtually and lauded the department’s efforts. The session was presided over by Dr. Manju Thapa, Medical Officer Gandhi Nagar HQ, while Principal FTC Himanshu Gandotra served as the Chief Guest. The workshop proceedings were coordinated by Vice Principal Kanwal Peshin.

As many as 60 officials, including 45 fireman trainees, received hands-on training in CPR techniques, the Heimlich manoeuvre, trauma injury response, and basic wound management. Participants were also briefed on early intervention strategies during cardiac arrests, airway obstructions, bleeding control, and the importance of the “golden hour” in trauma care.

Emergency medical professionals from Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity led the technical sessions. The department also felicitated Dr. Harmeet Singh, MD of Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity, with a memento in recognition of his team’s impactful contribution.

Deputy Director F&ES Jammu Raj Kumar Raina extended his congratulations telephonically, appreciating the successful execution of this life-saving training initiative aimed at boosting field readiness.
