February 24: BJP J&K Spokesperson Gaurav Gupta addressed a special session of ‘Budget Pe Charcha’ in Jammu North, organized under the leadership of BJP J&K President Sat Sharma and District President North, Nand Kishore. The discussion saw the participation of key BJP leaders, including MLA Arvind Gupta, former District President Omi Khajuria, senior leaders Karan Singh, Rajinder Singh, Pankaj Padha, DDC Balbir Ji, and Parduman Singh.
During his keynote address, Gaurav Gupta praised the Union Budget 2025 for its pro-middle-class policies, particularly the historic tax relief introduced by the Modi government. He pointed out that individuals earning up to ₹12 lakh annually are now exempt from paying income tax, a significant increase from the earlier Congress-era threshold of ₹2.5 lakh. Gupta emphasized that this move effectively keeps more money in taxpayers’ hands, significantly increasing their disposable income and providing financial relief to salaried professionals.
He further elaborated on India’s economic progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, describing the nation as the fastest-growing economy among major global players. He credited structural reforms and progressive development policies for India’s rising international recognition. The budget, he added, aligns with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ by prioritizing the welfare of key societal groups, including the poor (Garib), youth (Yuva), farmers (Annadata), and women (Nari).
Additionally, Gupta commended Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for exempting 36 life-saving medicines from customs duties, expanding the list of 114 previously duty-free imported drugs. He described this initiative as a crucial step towards improving healthcare accessibility.
Expressing appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Gupta described the Union Budget 2025 as forward-looking and inclusive, ensuring equitable growth across all segments of society.
In his address, MLA Arvind Gupta highlighted the BJP’s ‘Budget Pe Charcha’ initiative as a means to promote transparent dialogue between the government and citizens. He emphasized that such discussions help the public understand budget provisions and their real-world impact while fostering informed participation in economic decision-making. He reiterated that this initiative reflects the BJP’s commitment to inclusive governance and addressing the aspirations of the people.
