GDC Majalta Holds Youth Rally to Mark 150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’

NOV 13:Government Degree College (GDC) Majalta organized a spirited Youth Rally at Battal Chowk to commemorate 150 years of the iconic patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram’, which holds immense historical and cultural significance in India’s freedom struggle.

The event, aimed at rekindling patriotic fervour among the youth, was organized under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma, with Dr. Chander Mohan (Convener, IQAC) and Dr. Dalip Kumar (HOD, EVS) serving as the main organizers. Prof. Naresh Kumar coordinated the rally, ensuring enthusiastic participation and effective management of the event.

Over 120 students from the college participated with zeal, waving tricolour banners and chanting slogans that echoed national pride and unity. The rally highlighted the enduring legacy of ‘Vande Mataram’, originally penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1875, which continues to inspire generations with its message of devotion to the motherland.

Faculty members including Prof. Kamal Jeet, Dr. Baljeet Kour, Dr. Sunil Singh, and Dr. Mohd Abass Wani accompanied the students, encouraging them throughout the march and ensuring its smooth execution. The vibrant procession became a symbol of youthful energy and collective respect for India’s cultural and historical identity.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma lauded the efforts of the organizing committee and the enthusiastic involvement of the students. She highlighted the importance of such initiatives in nurturing a sense of national responsibility and cultural awareness among young citizens. “Events like these reconnect today’s generation with the country’s glorious past and strengthen their bond with its traditions,” she remarked.

The rally concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all participants, faculty members, and coordinators for their contributions in making the event a grand success. The day stood as a heartfelt tribute to the timeless spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’—a song that continues to unite and inspire India’s youth.
