Health Minister Sakeena Itoo Reviews Patient Care and Facilities at Srinagar Hospitals

AUG 28: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Ms. Sakeena Itoo, today conducted a comprehensive review of healthcare facilities during her visit to several leading hospitals in Srinagar, including Lal Ded Hospital, Bone & Joint (B&J) Hospital, Pediatric Hospital, and Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital.

The Minister personally inspected medical supplies, patient facilities, and infrastructure at these institutions to assess the quality of healthcare delivery. During her tour, she interacted with patients and their attendants, listening to their concerns and feedback about hospital services. She emphasized that the government is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, ensuring adequate supply of medicines, and providing timely, compassionate care to every patient.

At Lal Ded Hospital, which caters to maternal and child health, the Minister reviewed maternity services and directed hospital authorities to maintain round-the-clock availability of essential medicines and diagnostic facilities. She stressed the importance of hygienic conditions in wards and maternity units to safeguard maternal and newborn health.

At the Bone & Joint Hospital, Ms. Itoo examined emergency response systems, surgical facilities, and rehabilitation services. She called for improved patient management mechanisms to address the rising number of orthopedic cases.

Her visit to the Pediatric Hospital was focused on pediatric care facilities, availability of life-saving drugs for children, and vaccination services. She instructed staff to maintain strict adherence to treatment protocols and child-friendly healthcare practices.

At SMHS Hospital, one of the largest tertiary care centers in Kashmir, the Minister reviewed trauma care, intensive care units, and emergency preparedness. She reiterated the government’s resolve to upgrade infrastructure and support medical staff with modern equipment.

The Minister appreciated the dedication of doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff who have been working tirelessly, especially during challenging times. She assured that all shortcomings in terms of infrastructure and supply gaps would be addressed on priority.
