SEP 12: In a significant humanitarian move, the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Divisional:  Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir to build 1,500 free houses for families affected by Operation Sindoor, recent floods, and terrorist violence in the Union Territory. The initiative, launched under the guidance of Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha, is aimed at providing relief and long-term support to families who have suffered due to natural disasters and unprovoked attacks on civilians.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar, where LG Sinha praised HRDS India’s commitment to social welfare. These houses will be 3-bedroom “Smart Homes” equipped with modern amenities, ensuring comfort, safety, and digital connectivity. This is more than just a construction project—it is an effort to rebuild lives, offer hope, and provide a fresh start to those who have lost everything.

Alongside house construction, HRDS India will provide extended support including 15-year life insurance for all family members, monthly health check-ups, and free internet connectivity in partnership with BSNL. Trained volunteers will visit each home regularly to spread awareness about government schemes, health, education, and hygiene.

Moreover, each house will be repainted every five years at no cost to the beneficiaries, ensuring upkeep and dignity in living conditions.

This initiative reflects LG Manoj Sinha’s vision of not just rehabilitation, but also empowerment of the victims of calamities and violence. It serves as a beacon of resilience and government-civil society collaboration for sustainable rehabilitation in Jammu and Kashmir.
