SEP 09: Speaking at the inaugural session of the International Conference on Space 2025, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh outlined India’s ambitious space roadmap, including plans to establish a Bharatiya Space Station by 2035 and land an Indian astronaut on the Moon by 2040.
The conference, themed “Harnessing Space for Global Progress: Innovation, Policy, and Growth,” brought together over 500 delegates from across the world, including scientists, industry leaders, startups, and policymakers. Addressing the gathering virtually, Dr. Singh emphasized the transformation in India’s space sector driven by bold reforms and private participation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He praised recent achievements such as Chandrayaan-3’s lunar south pole landing and Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s visit to the International Space Station, and shared updates on upcoming missions to Mars, Venus, and asteroids.
Highlighting the rise of over 300 space startups, the Minister said this entrepreneurial ecosystem is becoming the backbone of India’s space ambitions, fostering innovation, creating jobs, and strengthening the national space economy.
Dr. Singh stressed that space technology should directly benefit society — from agriculture and health to education, urban planning, and governance. He also underlined the importance of international collaboration, citing India’s partnerships with NASA, Japan, and others.
Skill development, academic outreach, and industry-academia collaboration remain central to India’s strategy, with ISRO playing a key role in nurturing next-generation talent in fields like satellite design, propulsion, and AI in space.
Concluding, Dr. Singh called for a united global vision: “Let us dream, innovate, and build together — making space a shared horizon for humanity’s progress.”
