NOV 15: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is taking part in the eighth edition of the bilateral air exercise Garuda 25 with the French Air and Space Force (FASF). The exercise is scheduled to be held at Mont-de-Marsan Air Base in France from 16 to 27 November 2025. The IAF contingent reached France on 10 November 2025 and is participating with its frontline Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.
To support the deployment, the IAF has inducted the C-17 Globemaster III for strategic airlift during both the induction and de-induction phases of the exercise. Additionally, IL-78 aerial refuelling aircraft are providing extended range and endurance to the Su-30MKI fighters, enabling them to undertake long-duration missions during the training sessions.
Throughout the exercise, IAF Su-30MKIs will train alongside advanced French multirole fighters in a series of demanding and realistic air combat scenarios. These include missions focused on air-to-air engagements, integrated air defence operations, and coordinated strike roles. The primary aim is to enhance tactical proficiency, evaluate combined operational strategies, and strengthen the ability of both air forces to operate together in complex environments.
Garuda 25 also serves as a platform for deeper professional exchanges between personnel from both nations. Participants will engage in discussions, mission planning, and debrief sessions designed to share operational insights and best practices. Such interactions contribute significantly to improving mutual understanding and interoperability.
India’s participation in this edition of the Garuda exercise highlights the IAF’s ongoing commitment to engaging with partner air forces worldwide. Through multinational exercises like Garuda, the IAF continues to promote cooperation, build strategic trust, and strengthen international collaboration in air operations.
