OCT 23: India has been re-elected as Vice-Chairperson of the Bureau for the Asia-Pacific (Group IV) during the 10th Session of the Conference of Parties (COP10) to the International Convention against Doping in Sport, held from 20–22 October 2025 at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris. The convention marks two decades of global efforts to uphold integrity, ethics, and fairness in sports.

The Indian delegation, led by Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, Secretary (Sports), and Shri Anant Kumar, Director General, NADA, represented India among delegates from over 190 member countries, as well as organizations like the IOC, WADA, and the African Union.

India’s re-election reinforces its growing leadership in promoting clean sport and advancing anti-doping initiatives across Asia. The country also contributed to the session by facilitating interactive boards that showcased the global journey of the Anti-Doping Convention.

Key discussions during COP10 focused on strengthening governance, ensuring compliance, and addressing emerging challenges such as gene manipulation, ethical issues, and traditional pharmacopoeia in sports.

India also successfully proposed amendments integrating the Values Education through Sport (VETS) approach to strengthen education-based initiatives promoting ethics, values, and integrity among youth.

As the session concluded, States Parties reaffirmed their collective commitment to clean sport, with outcomes aimed at improving the governance and effectiveness of the Convention.
