APRIL 4: Continuing its ongoing efforts against land mafia and building violations, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), in close coordination with the District Administration and Police, conducted a massive anti-encroachment and demolition drive in the Gole area on Thursday. The operation targeted encroached land, aiming to reclaim it and take action against violators.
The drive was meticulously coordinated, with the District Administration providing magisterial support and the Police ensuring the smooth execution of the operation. The targeted area was located in village Gole, opposite the Government Degree College, Bhagwati Nagar, where recent encroachments had been reported. The objective of the operation was clear: to evict illegal encroachments and send a strong message to all land violators in the region.
During the operation, a significant portion of land was reclaimed. Three illegal houses and nine plinths were demolished, successfully retrieving a total of 15 kanals of JDA land. This move demonstrated the JDA’s commitment to cracking down on unlawful constructions and encroachments, while also signaling that no one would be allowed to violate land laws with impunity. The demolition operation also had an educational component, as it raised awareness among residents about the legal consequences of constructing on land with a clear title under government or JDA ownership.
The success of the drive was made possible through the collaborative efforts of various departments and agencies. The operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Vice Chairman, JDA Pankaj Sharma, and led by DLM, Tehsildar JDA Garbi Rashid, along with Khilafwarzi officers and officials from the JDA. The police contingent, led by SP Rural Brijesh Kumar, SDPO Domana, and SHO Domana, played a crucial role in ensuring the security and smooth conduct of the operation. The District Administration also provided vital support through a Magistrate deputed by the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu.
The operation not only resulted in the removal of illegal encroachments but also reinforced the importance of adhering to legal procedures when it comes to land ownership and construction. It highlighted the need for residents to verify the title of land before engaging in construction activities, ensuring that they do not fall prey to the consequences of illegal encroachments.
Vice Chairman Pankaj Sharma emphasized that the drive’s success was a clear message to the public, urging them to be cautious and to ensure that they construct only after confirming the legal status of the land they wish to develop. The event also served as a reminder that such operations will continue in the future to maintain the integrity of government and JDA land.
