SEP 24: As part of the Seva Parv and Gandhi Jayanti 2025 celebrations, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), J&K, in collaboration with Amar Singh College, Srinagar, hosted a grand cultural event titled “Symphonies of Peace.” The festival brought together students, artists, and faculty members to celebrate India’s vibrant heritage and the timeless ideals of Mahatma Gandhi.
The event featured a variety of traditional and folk performances, including Kashmiri Rauf, Tappe, Gatka, Qawalis, and skits, each highlighting the country’s cultural richness and diversity. Students enthusiastically participated, using dance, music, and drama to spread messages of peace, unity, and social harmony.
Kashmiri Rauf, with its elegant group movements, reflected the grace of Kashmiri traditions, while Tappe offered a lyrical glimpse into local storytelling. Gatka, a traditional martial art, impressed the audience with its discipline and valor, and Qawalis brought spiritual fervor to the celebration. The skits, often humorous and thought-provoking, conveyed important social messages inspired by Gandhian philosophy.
Speaking on the occasion, college authorities and cultural coordinators praised the efforts of the students and DIPR in organizing such a meaningful event. They highlighted the role of youth in preserving India’s cultural legacy and carrying forward the values of non-violence, service, and unity.
“Symphonies of Peace” successfully merged cultural celebration with social awareness, reminding attendees of the strength in India’s diversity and the enduring relevance of Gandhi’s teachings. The event concluded with a strong message of harmony and a call to embrace culture as a vehicle for peace and nation-building.
