JMC Launches Extensive Drive to Ensure Hygienic, Safe, and Quality Meat Supply for Eid Celebrations

29 March 2025: JMC Intensifies Efforts to Ensure Safe and Hygienic Meat Supply for Eid Celebrations

With the festive occasion of Eid approaching, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched an extensive campaign to ensure the availability of high-quality, safe, and hygienic mutton and poultry products for the public. This proactive initiative aims to provide residents with a worry-free and enjoyable Eid by maintaining strict food safety standards across the city’s meat markets.

Under the directives of JMC Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav, a specialized team from the Veterinary Section, led by Dr. Gourav Chowdhary, conducted surprise inspections at various meat markets throughout Jammu. These inspections focused on verifying the authenticity of meat being sold, checking for any indications of contamination or disease, and ensuring that vendors strictly adhere to food safety regulations.

During the enforcement drive, authorities identified multiple violations, leading to penalties being imposed on 11 mutton shops for non-compliance with food safety norms. Additionally, all meat vendors were instructed to uphold hygiene and quality standards to safeguard public health.

JMC has assured that this special drive will remain in effect throughout the Eid festivities, with continuous monitoring of meat markets to prevent any malpractices. Citizens have been encouraged to report concerns regarding food safety through both online and offline complaint mechanisms. The municipal body remains committed to maintaining stringent quality control measures, reinforcing public trust in the safety and hygiene of food products during the festive season.
