AUG 21: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, inaugurated the newly constructed Administrative Block and Amphitheatre at the Central University of Kashmir (CUK), a move that marks a significant milestone in the institution’s infrastructural and academic development.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor emphasized the crucial role of higher education in nation-building, particularly in shaping India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. He noted that modern universities must go beyond conventional teaching, and instead cultivate spaces for critical thinking, creativity, and research-led innovation.
The LG urged faculty members to make classrooms more engaging, nurturing a culture where students are encouraged to ask questions, think independently, and contribute ideas that can drive social and economic transformation. He highlighted that the responsibility of universities extends to creating quality human capital that will serve as the backbone of a developed India.
Addressing the students, Shri Sinha advised them to embrace curiosity and innovation as core values in their learning journey. He added that the newly inaugurated facilities—an Administrative Block designed for efficient governance and academic coordination, and an Amphitheatre that will serve as a hub for cultural, academic, and creative expression—are integral to enriching the overall campus experience.
He praised the efforts of the university administration in steadily upgrading the institution’s infrastructure and called upon them to align educational practices with the aspirations of a rapidly progressing nation. “Our universities must serve as incubators of ideas that lead to social empowerment and national growth,” the LG remarked.
The inauguration event was attended by senior faculty members, officials, and students of CUK, who expressed optimism that these new facilities would enhance both administrative efficiency and extracurricular engagement.
With this addition, the Central University of Kashmir has taken another stride towards becoming a modern center of learning, fostering innovation and preparing youth to contribute meaningfully towards the dream of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
