JUNE 09: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Nutraj’s cutting-edge flagship nuts and dry fruits processing plant in Samba, marking a major step forward for industrial development in the region. Situated in a border area, the new facility represents a first-of-its-kind initiative and underscores the government’s commitment to fostering growth and development in Jammu & Kashmir’s Union Territory.

Speaking at the inauguration, LG Sinha emphasized the transformative potential of the plant, noting its contribution to both economic advancement and social upliftment in Samba and surrounding regions. “This modern industrial unit is a milestone in our journey towards economic empowerment. It reflects our determination to elevate Jammu & Kashmir to new heights of progress,” he said.

The newly established processing plant by Nutraj—a leading name in the dry fruits industry—boasts state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure. Designed to international standards, the unit is expected to significantly boost the local economy by generating employment opportunities and increasing household incomes in the region. The initiative aligns with broader government objectives of inclusive development and rural empowerment.

LG Sinha lauded Nutraj for setting up this industrial hub in a border area, calling it a pioneering step that showcases the region’s growing potential. “Such ventures are not only about infrastructure; they’re about uplifting communities, supporting local talent, and creating long-term economic sustainability,” he added.

The plant is already creating direct and indirect jobs for residents, enhancing income levels and potentially improving the overall quality of life. Officials believe the project will stimulate related sectors, including logistics, packaging, and transportation, leading to wider economic ripple effects.

With this flagship facility, Nutraj aims to scale up operations and meet growing consumer demand both domestically and internationally, while remaining rooted in the region’s development.

This milestone reflects a significant public-private partnership model that can serve as a template for future industrial investments across Jammu & Kashmir. It reaffirms the administration’s focus on harnessing the region’s potential and ensuring that prosperity reaches every corner of the Union Territory.
