May 08: Microsoft has introduced a new line of Surface Copilot+ PCs designed to bring powerful AI capabilities to a wider audience at accessible prices. The lineup features two new devices—the Surface Laptop and Surface Pro—equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus processor and Microsoft’s latest AI-driven features in Windows 11.
Starting at $899 for the 13-inch Surface Laptop and $799 for the Surface Pro, these machines are among the most affordable AI-powered laptops from Microsoft. Both models are designed with integrated Neural Processing Units (NPUs), allowing advanced on-device AI features such as Recall, which enables users to search past activities using natural language, and CoCreator, an AI-assisted tool for image creation in Microsoft Paint.
The Surface Laptop boasts impressive battery life, offering up to 23 hours of video playback. It includes a high-resolution display, a Copilot key for fast access to Microsoft’s AI assistant, and configurations starting with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. The Surface Pro, on the other hand, features a 12-inch display with options for OLED HDR and a 90Hz refresh rate, along with a fanless design for quiet operation.
These devices also support new AI tools natively in Windows 11, making them suitable for creative professionals, students, and everyday users looking for smarter productivity options.
Pre-orders are now open, and general availability will begin on May 20, 2025. Microsoft’s push to bring AI-enabled computing to more people aligns with its broader vision of enhancing the Windows ecosystem with intelligent features and seamless performance.
By combining performance, AI, and affordability, Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs mark a significant step in mainstreaming AI-powered laptops.
