MAY 22: Minister Satish Sharma reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and prompt grievance redressal while engaging with several public delegations in Srinagar. The minister’s outreach initiative emphasized the administration’s determination to strengthen citizen-government interaction and address grassroots-level concerns efficiently.

During the day-long interaction, Sharma met with a variety of deputations representing different sectors and regions. These groups highlighted a range of pressing issues, including the long-pending pension cases of retired employees of the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), operational and supply chain challenges faced by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), and broader developmental demands emerging from the Ganderbal district.

The retired SRTC employees raised concerns about delays in pension disbursements and urged the minister to ensure timely clearance of their dues. Sharma assured the delegation that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authorities to facilitate early resolution, reaffirming that welfare of retired personnel remains a priority.

Representatives from the FCS&CA sector presented logistical and supply management issues affecting timely distribution of essential commodities in certain areas. The minister acknowledged the critical nature of their concerns and pledged to streamline internal processes to enhance service delivery across the department.

In addition, community leaders and local representatives from Ganderbal voiced developmental concerns, calling for focused efforts on infrastructure improvement, road connectivity, and public service access. Sharma listened attentively and promised that development projects in Ganderbal would be reviewed and accelerated where possible, ensuring equitable progress across all regions.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma reiterated that the government is deeply committed to ensuring that citizen grievances are addressed with urgency and responsibility. “Public service delivery must be timely, transparent, and accountable. Our goal is to make governance more responsive and inclusive,” he said.

He added that platforms for regular interaction with the public would be strengthened to ensure people’s voices are heard and acted upon. The minister concluded by urging departmental heads and officials to maintain proactive communication and promptly resolve legitimate concerns raised by the citizens.

The outreach initiative received a positive response from the attending delegations, who appreciated the minister’s approachability and the government’s pledge to uphold transparency in governance.
