JULY 29: In a significant recognition of sporting talent from the Union Territory, a delegation of prominent national-level archers called on Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha. The delegation comprised Shri Hrithik Sharma, Shri Shubham Sharma, and Shri Amit Thakur—renowned names in the Indian archery circuit. They were joined by Ms. Abhilasha Chaudhary, the National Archery Team Coach.
During their interaction, the delegation conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor for his consistent encouragement and unwavering support for archery and other sports disciplines within Jammu and Kashmir. They acknowledged the various initiatives undertaken by the UT administration under his leadership, which have significantly contributed to the promotion and development of sports at both grassroots and professional levels.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated Shri Hrithik Sharma on his commendable performance at the recently concluded FISU World University Games 2025 held in Germany, where he earned a prestigious silver medal. Shri Sinha praised Sharma’s dedication and hard work, noting that his achievement serves as an inspiration to countless young athletes across the region.
Shri Sinha also took the opportunity to express his admiration for the commitment shown by all the archers present, and he lauded their efforts in representing India on national and international platforms. He emphasized that their success stories reflect the growing sports culture in the Union Territory and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to nurturing athletic talent.
The Lieutenant Governor assured the archers of all possible support from the UT administration, including access to better training facilities, exposure to international competitions, and enhanced infrastructure. He stressed the importance of continued focus and discipline, encouraging the athletes to aim for even higher milestones in the future.
Coach Ms. Abhilasha Chaudhary appreciated the proactive steps taken by the administration to elevate archery in the region and thanked the Lieutenant Governor for his approachable leadership and vision for sports development.
