Jan 25: On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, girl students from Government School Khanna Chargal, Bajalta, visited the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Jammu, as part of an educational tour organised by the Social Welfare Department, Jammu, under the aegis of Mission Shakti Jammu (@mskjammu).
The visit aimed to sensitise young students about governance, public administration, and the functioning of the district administration. During the tour, the students explored various offices within the district administrative complex and gained first-hand exposure to how government departments work to deliver public services.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Rakesh Minhas, interacted warmly with the students, engaging them in discussions about their academic interests, career aspirations, and the challenges they face in pursuing education. He encouraged the girls to remain focused on their goals and pursue their dreams with confidence, determination and hard work.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasised that education and empowerment of girls are central to building a progressive, inclusive and developed society. He highlighted the role of government initiatives and social awareness in ensuring equal opportunities for girls and urged the students to take full advantage of educational and skill development programmes available to them.
The interaction inspired the students, who expressed enthusiasm about learning more about administration and public service. Officials from the Social Welfare Department said such exposure visits play a crucial role in boosting confidence, widening perspectives, and motivating young girls to aspire for leadership roles in the future.
The educational tour marked a meaningful celebration of National Girl Child Day, reinforcing the message of “Educate, Empower and Encourage the Girl Child” and reaffirming the administration’s commitment to gender equality and women-led development.
