JULY 26:The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) India, with support from the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, successfully hosted the second edition of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Intelligence & Investigations (I&I) Workshop in New Delhi from July 21 to 25, 2025. This international event marked a significant step forward in enhancing global cooperation to combat doping in sports.
The workshop, part of WADA’s Capability and Capacity Building Project, brought together representatives from National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) and law enforcement bodies across Asia, including participants from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with INTERPOL and Sport Integrity Australia, both of whom provided crucial expertise during the sessions.
Over five days, participants engaged in intensive sessions covering core investigative topics such as intelligence operations, source management, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and interviewing techniques. The sessions emphasized the need for intelligence-driven collaboration between sports and law enforcement sectors to preserve integrity in athletics.
Secretary (Sports), Shri Hari Ranjan Rao, expressed India’s pride in hosting the workshop, emphasizing its importance in the global fight against doping. “This collaborative initiative showcases our shared commitment to clean sport and the value of building robust investigative capacities across nations,” he said.
Director General of NADA India, Shri Anant Kumar, highlighted the significance of India’s continued involvement. “Following the success of our first workshop earlier this year, this edition marks another milestone in WADA’s efforts to strengthen the Global Anti-Doping Intelligence and Investigations Network (GAIIN),” he noted.
WADA’s Director of Intelligence & Investigations, Günter Younger, commended India’s role, stating, “India’s dedication to these workshops plays a vital role in strengthening regional anti-doping frameworks. We’re confident these efforts will have lasting global impact.”
The event reinforced WADA’s commitment to enhancing investigative capacity and global cooperation through GAIIN. With the final workshop in the series scheduled for April 2026, India continues to play a leading role in fostering a clean and fair sporting environment worldwide.
