MAY 04: Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, will lead the Indian delegation to the 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), being held in Milan, Italy, from May 4 to May 7, 2025.
The delegation includes senior officials from the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance. The ADB Annual Meeting will bring together delegates from member nations, international financial institutions, and development agencies to discuss pressing global economic and development challenges.
Smt. Sitharaman is scheduled to participate in key sessions, including the Governors’ Business Session, the Governors’ Plenary Session, and the ADB Governors’ Seminar, where she will speak as a panelist on the theme “Cross-Border Collaboration for Future Resilience.” The seminar will focus on strategies to strengthen regional cooperation, climate adaptation, and economic sustainability in the face of global uncertainties.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Finance Minister will hold bilateral discussions with her counterparts from Italy, Japan, and Bhutan, aimed at strengthening economic partnerships and development cooperation. She will also meet with the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
Adding a cultural and community dimension to her visit, Smt. Sitharaman will engage with the Indian diaspora in Milan, sharing the government’s vision for inclusive growth, global partnerships, and India’s rising economic role on the world stage.
A key highlight of her Milan itinerary will be her participation in the NEXT Milan Forum at Bocconi University, where she will address a plenary session on “Balancing Economic and Climate Resilience.” The session aims to integrate sustainability into global economic strategies, aligning climate goals with economic growth.
Additionally, the Finance Minister will interact with leading global CEOs, business leaders, and think tanks, emphasizing India’s commitment to global collaboration, green growth, and inclusive development.
