Jan 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Government of India is continuously working to create new opportunities for the youth, both within the country and abroad. Addressing the 18th National Rozgar Mela virtually from New Delhi, the Prime Minister highlighted that India is signing trade and mobility agreements with several countries, opening global avenues for the nation’s skilled workforce.
Emphasising India’s strong economic performance, PM Modi said that the country is the only major economy in the world to have doubled its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) within a decade. He noted that more than 100 countries are currently investing in India through Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), reflecting global confidence in India’s growth story. The Prime Minister added that FDI inflows have increased by over 2.5 times compared to the decade prior to 2014, leading to the creation of numerous employment opportunities for young people.
Highlighting the significance of the day, PM Modi recalled that 24 January marks the day when the Constitution of India formally recognised Jana Gana Mana as the National Anthem and Vande Mataram as the National Song. He linked this historic importance to the spirit of the Rozgar Mela, which he described as having evolved into an institution that symbolises hope and opportunity for the youth.
The Prime Minister said that lakhs of young people have already received appointment letters through the Rozgar Mela initiative, enabling them to serve the nation through various government departments. He described the appointment letters distributed today as an invitation to participate in nation-building and a sankalp patra guiding youth towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Referring to the beginning of 2026, PM Modi said the new year has started on a positive note, coinciding with the celebration of Basant Panchami, symbolising new beginnings, knowledge and prosperity.
During the event, appointment letters were distributed to more than 61,000 newly recruited youth across various central government ministries and departments. The 18th National Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 45 locations across the country, reflecting the scale and commitment of the government’s employment drive.
The Rozgar Mela initiative continues to play a vital role in strengthening public sector recruitment, empowering youth and reinforcing the government’s focus on inclusive growth and employment generation.
