JULY 19: In a commendable step towards promoting digital transactions and seamless travel experiences, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) recently recognized bus conductors who have excelled in UPI-based ticketing. This initiative is a significant part of the broader Digital India campaign, aimed at encouraging cashless and transparent modes of payment across the country.

The felicitation ceremony was organized to honour conductors who recorded the highest number of UPI-based ticket collections within the Jammu region. These individuals were appreciated for their role in fostering a more efficient, transparent, and technology-driven public transportation system. The event marks a step forward in encouraging digital literacy and adoption among frontline public service workers.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Devansh Yadav, CEO of Jammu Smart City, lauded the efforts of the bus conductors and reiterated the city’s commitment to developing smarter and more sustainable urban mobility. He emphasized that digital payments not only simplify the travel experience for commuters but also bring in much-needed transparency and accountability in public services.

Dr. Yadav also urged citizens to increasingly opt for digital payment methods such as UPI while commuting, highlighting the long-term benefits such as reduced cash handling, quicker transactions, and traceable records. The growing reliance on mobile payments reflects a positive trend toward a digitally empowered society.

Additional CEO Subah Mehta was also present at the event, further underlining the administration’s collective push for digital transformation within Jammu’s transport ecosystem.

The initiative aligns with JSCL’s mission to integrate smart solutions into the city’s infrastructure under the Smart Cities Mission. By recognizing and rewarding public transport personnel who embrace innovation, Jammu is not only digitizing its systems but also building a culture of forward-thinking and responsibility.

Efforts like these are crucial in bridging the digital divide and ensuring that even the most grassroots-level services are part of India’s digital revolution. Jammu’s approach offers a model that other cities can replicate to drive the adoption of smart, inclusive technologies in everyday public services.
