PSPS Govt. College hosts JK Science Congress 2025; scholars, scientists gather in Jammu

NOV 21: The two-day JK Science Congress 2025 began today at PSPS Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, drawing academicians, researchers, scientists, students, and innovators from across the Union Territory. The event is being organised in collaboration with the J&K Science Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science and Technology.

Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Chandrasekar, Vice-Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu, graced the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Abdul Majid, Director Finance, Higher Education Department, joined as Guest of Honour.

Welcoming the participants, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Gitanjali Andotra underscored the importance of the Science Congress in promoting scientific thinking and strengthening the research ecosystem in educational institutions. She acknowledged the support of Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Higher Education Department, and Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary, Science & Technology, for enabling such academic initiatives.

Dr. Aran Kumar, Organizing Secretary, introduced the theme and objectives of the Congress. The keynote speaker, Dr. Om Prakash Sharma Vidyarthi—PCCF, Member J&K Biodiversity Board, and Sahitya Akademi Awardee—highlighted emerging scientific frontiers and stressed the need for innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and capacity building for national progress.

A key moment of the event was the release of the abstract volume “Sarovar,” featuring diverse research submissions from scholars and innovators.

Senior officials from DST and JKSTIC attended the inauguration. The afternoon comprised technical sessions and paper presentations chaired by eminent academicians, including Prof. Vishwa Murthy Shastri, Prof. Akash Sharma, Dr. Sujata Kundan, Prof. Pankaj Biswas, and Dr. Vinitaa Sharma.

The first day concluded with a cultural programme showcasing the region’s artistic heritage.
