AUG 01: Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has lauded the exceptional back-end support of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) departments as a key factor behind the success of Operation Sindoor, while calling for deeper civil-military synergy to bolster India’s security structure and protect national interests.
Speaking at the 84th Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ) Civilian Services Day at DRDO Bhawan, Shri Singh underlined the critical role played by civilian personnel. He stated, “A war is not fought by the military alone but by the entire nation. In today’s evolving security environment, dynamism, innovation, and precision are essential.”
He hailed the AFHQ Civilian Services as the institutional memory of the MoD, bringing consistency, domain expertise, and policy continuity. “AFHQ Services are a strong pillar of a modern and integrated national defence system,” he said, emphasizing their role during both war and peace.
Underscoring the importance of capacity building, the Raksha Mantri urged AFHQ officials to adopt global best practices and prioritize continuous development. “Training must go beyond technical skills and include ethical, behavioural, and value-based components to align actions with national interest,” he added.
As part of the celebrations, Shri Singh launched the redeveloped website of the Office of Joint Secretary & Chief Administrative Officer (www.caomod.gov.in), offering updates on transfers, promotions, salary slips, and training opportunities.
He also released ‘Viksit Bharat@2047: Karmikon Ke Vichar’, a collection of 40 thought-provoking articles by MoD employees, and the 32nd issue of ‘Samvad’ magazine. Awards were presented to outstanding AFHQ personnel and their children for achievements in academics and sports.
The event saw attendance from top defence leadership including the Chiefs of Army, Navy, Air Force, and CDS General Anil Chauhan. AFHQ Day honours civilian staff working alongside Armed Forces personnel across Integrated HQs and Inter-Service Organisations.
