NOV 15:District Samba today celebrated the culmination of Phase-I of the 150th anniversary of the iconic patriotic song “Vande Mataram” at the District Administrative Complex, Nandani Hills. The event was led by Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan, who highlighted the historical importance of the song and its timeless connection to India’s freedom struggle.

The programme featured a special documentary showcasing the 150-year journey of “Vande Mataram,” capturing its evolution from a poem of resistance to a national symbol of unity and pride. The presentation offered students and attendees a deeper understanding of the song’s relevance and its role in inspiring generations of Indians.

The celebration further came alive with cultural performances by school students and local cultural groups, who infused the venue with patriotic fervour through music, dance, and artistic displays. A powerful Nukkad Natak was staged, portraying the sacrifices of freedom fighters and the emotional significance of “Vande Mataram” during India’s struggle for independence. The street play drew strong applause for its impactful messaging and energetic performances.

Throughout the week leading up to the finale, schools and cultural organizations across Samba had participated in various competitions and awareness activities. During today’s ceremony, the district administration honoured outstanding performers and contributors, appreciating their efforts in keeping the spirit of patriotism alive.

DC Ayushi Sudan congratulated students, teachers, and cultural groups for their enthusiastic participation, adding that such events strengthen national unity and remind younger generations of the ideals that shaped the nation.
