JUNE 26: In a proactive step to ensure the smooth execution of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025, Minister Satish Sharma visited the Baltal base camp to personally review the arrangements in place for the annual pilgrimage. His visit focused on evaluating the preparedness of critical infrastructure and services that will cater to thousands of yatris expected this season.
During the inspection, the minister closely examined food and water supplies, transportation arrangements, logistical support systems, and Langar (community kitchen) facilities. He interacted with officials and volunteers, including Langar Wallas, to understand on-ground requirements and ensure that pilgrims receive timely, hygienic meals and essential support services.
Minister Sharma emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination and a 24/7 support mechanism to guarantee the safety, comfort, and well-being of the yatris. He urged all departments—health, transport, police, food supplies, and disaster response teams—to maintain close communication and quick response capabilities throughout the Yatra period.
To prevent any shortages, he also reviewed stock levels of essential commodities such as medicines, fuel, food grains, and emergency equipment at key supply points. Officials were directed to maintain reserve stocks and deploy rapid replenishment protocols to meet any surge in demand.
“Every pilgrim must feel safe, respected, and well-cared-for,” Minister Sharma stated. “This Yatra is not just a religious journey, but a spiritual experience that reflects the soul of India. Our arrangements must reflect that spirit.”
The inspection also included an assessment of emergency response systems, signage along the trekking routes, and the condition of shelters and sanitation facilities. With unpredictable weather and terrain challenges in the region, Sharma directed officials to keep rescue and medical teams on standby at all times.
The Baltal base camp, being one of the main access points to the holy Amarnath Cave, plays a pivotal role in the success of the pilgrimage. The minister’s visit has reassured both pilgrims and volunteers of the government’s commitment to making SANJY 2025 safe, organized, and spiritually fulfilling.
