JULY 28: Union Minister of Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, chaired a high-level review meeting with Chief General Managers (CGMs) of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) in the national capital to assess the company’s performance, challenges, and strategic priorities. Minister of State for Communications, Shri Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, along with senior officials from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), also attended the session.
The meeting aimed to evaluate BSNL’s operational efficiency, accelerate the rollout of telecom infrastructure, and enhance citizen-centric service delivery. Addressing the media, Shri Scindia emphasized BSNL’s pivotal role in transforming India’s telecom landscape and reiterated the company’s commitment to digital inclusivity and service modernization.
Customer-First and Revenue-Oriented Approach
In line with the government’s vision for a digitally empowered Bharat, the discussions revolved around making BSNL a truly customer-first organization, prioritizing improved service delivery, swift grievance redressal, and stronger customer engagement. The Minister emphasized the implementation of “Revenue First” targets at every level, urging all BSNL circles to align operations with measurable goals.
BSNL is now undergoing a comprehensive transformation across all operational circles to modernize its network and services, with a clear focus on quality, accountability, and consumer satisfaction.
Key Areas of Focus:

Strengthening outreach to customers in rural, urban, and enterprise segments

Enhancing Quality of Service (QoS) in mobile and FTTH networks

Addressing billing, provisioning, and network uptime issues

Expanding BSNL’s enterprise offerings, including VPN solutions, leased lines, and tailored connectivity services

Improving service delivery through digital platforms and innovation

Accelerated 4G rollout across multiple circles

Launch of IFTv for FTTH and BiTV for mobile customers to boost infotainment services

Nationwide Wi-Fi roaming service

Spam-Free Network, an AI-based solution to combat spam/scam communications

Launch of a BSNL Business Associate (BBA) portal to engage youth in sales and distribution

Progress on CNPN projects for secure, private network services in critical sectors
Shri Scindia appreciated BSNL’s progress and urged leadership to ensure tangible improvements in customer satisfaction and revenue performance, laying the foundation for a resilient, tech-forward public telecom operator.
