JULY 30: In a significant move to highlight and strengthen the livestock sector, the Department of Sheep Husbandry, Kashmir, in collaboration with the All J&K Sheep & Wool Workers Association, organized a seminar recognizing the critical role of para-veterinary professionals. The event shed light on the indispensable contributions of these frontline workers who provide essential healthcare services to livestock, often under challenging conditions.
The seminar was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Minister Javid Ahmad Dar, who commended the tireless efforts and dedication of the para-veterinary workforce. He acknowledged the tough terrain and extreme weather conditions in which these professionals operate, ensuring the health and wellbeing of livestock across the region.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Dar assured the attendees that the government is committed to resolving the longstanding issues faced by the para-veterinary staff. He emphasized the administration’s focus on improving working conditions, strengthening rural veterinary infrastructure, and ensuring timely delivery of field services.
To further bolster field-level veterinary support, the Minister also flagged off eight new pickup vehicles, which will be deployed to enhance mobility and efficiency of services in remote and far-flung areas. These vehicles are expected to significantly improve the response time and reach of veterinary aid, particularly during emergencies.
The seminar also served as a platform for para-veterinary professionals to share their experiences and voice their concerns directly to senior officials. The Sheep Husbandry Department reaffirmed its commitment to continuous skill development, better resources, and policy support for ground-level workers.
Officials from both the Department and the Association expressed optimism that such initiatives would lead to stronger coordination between administration and field workers. The event concluded with a note of appreciation for the unwavering commitment of these professionals who play a crucial yet often under-recognized role in sustaining the livestock economy of Jammu and Kashmir.
