OCT 27:Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparations for the upcoming 2nd Edition of the Kashmir Marathon, scheduled to be held on November 2, 2025. The meeting, attended by senior officers from the Tourism Department, Police, Sports Council, and District Administration, focused on ensuring smooth organization and safety arrangements for the event.
The Kashmir Marathon, a flagship initiative of the J&K Tourism Department, aims to combine sports, tourism, and cultural promotion to project Jammu and Kashmir as a vibrant destination of peace and vitality. Building on the success of the first edition, the 2025 marathon is expected to witness participation from professional runners, fitness enthusiasts, and visitors from across India and abroad.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination for traffic management, medical assistance, security, and crowd control. He directed officials to ensure that all logistical and infrastructural arrangements, including route marking, hydration points, signage, and emergency response mechanisms, are in place well ahead of time.
Dulloo highlighted that the marathon offers a unique opportunity to showcase Srinagar’s scenic beauty, rich heritage, and warm hospitality to the world. He urged departments to make the event not just a sporting spectacle but also a celebration of Kashmiri culture and environmental awareness.
The Tourism Department briefed the Chief Secretary on the promotional campaigns, registration process, and participation drives being conducted across various districts and educational institutions to encourage mass participation.
The Kashmir Marathon 2025 is expected to further strengthen the region’s reputation as a hub of adventure tourism, contributing to local economy and community engagement through sports and tourism synergy.
