Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Meets J&K CM to Discuss Tourism Development

JUNE 19: The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir warmly welcomed the Hon’ble Union Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (@gssjodhpur), during his official visit to Srinagar. The meeting marked an important interaction aimed at enhancing Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism potential—a sector considered crucial for the region’s economic and cultural vibrancy.

During the discussion, both leaders shared perspectives on strategies to strengthen the tourism infrastructure across the Union Territory. The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Union Government for its continued support and highlighted the various initiatives taken by the administration to revitalize and diversify tourism in J&K. Emphasis was placed on promoting eco-tourism, heritage tourism, and adventure tourism, which are key to attracting a wider demographic of travelers to the region.

Shri Shekhawat appreciated the local administration’s commitment to improving facilities for tourists and reiterated the Centre’s focus on ensuring sustainable development in Jammu and Kashmir. He assured that the Union Government remains dedicated to supporting projects that enhance connectivity, hospitality, and environmental sustainability—all essential components for the growth of the tourism industry.

The two leaders also discussed coordinated efforts to improve water management systems, especially around key tourist spots such as lakes, rivers, and heritage gardens, which form an integral part of the region’s natural allure. The Union Minister emphasized the importance of clean and well-maintained water bodies in boosting the overall visitor experience.
