JUNE 01: Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann, AVSM, VM, assumed the role of Senior Air Staff Officer at the Western Air Command of the Indian Air Force on June 1, 2025. This appointment places him in a crucial leadership position in one of the most strategically significant commands of the IAF.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Air Marshal Mann was commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a fighter pilot on December 16, 1989. With over 3,000 hours of flying experience on a range of fighter aircraft, he has established himself as an accomplished and highly experienced aviator. He is also a qualified Pilot Attack Instructor, contributing significantly to training and operational readiness within the force.
Throughout his distinguished career, Air Marshal Mann has held a variety of key operational and administrative positions. He has commanded a fighter squadron and served as the Chief Operations Officer at a forward air base, reflecting his strong operational credentials. He has also led a premier fighter base as its Air Officer Commanding. His leadership extended to Air Headquarters and Command Headquarters, where he played a vital role in strategic planning and administration.
Internationally, Air Marshal Mann has directed major joint military training exercises, including air drills with the Republic of Singapore Air Force in 2017 and the United States Air Force in 2018, showcasing his expertise in bilateral and multilateral defense cooperation.
He has also held important appointments such as Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration and Air Defence Commander under the Central Air Command. Prior to his current posting, he served as Director General (Weapon Systems) at Air Headquarters, overseeing critical operational capabilities of the IAF.
In terms of academic and professional development, he is an alumnus of both the Defence Services Staff College and the prestigious Royal College of Defence Studies in London, UK, highlighting his deep strategic understanding and global exposure.
Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann’s distinguished service has been recognized with two of the highest Presidential honors for military personnel—the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and the Vayu Sena Medal (VM). His appointment to the Western Air Command signals a continued emphasis on strong leadership and operational excellence in the Indian Air Force.
