JUNE 12: In celebration of International Yoga Day 2025, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs organized a special Yoga Workshop on June 11, 2025, at Committee Room 62, Samvidhan Sadan, New Delhi. The session was held under the expert guidance of Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Professor in the Department of Yoga Science at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, Delhi.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary of the Ministry, who emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily routines, especially in high-stress professional environments. He highlighted yoga as not only a form of physical exercise but also a holistic discipline that promotes mental clarity, emotional balance, and increased productivity.
Leading the session, Dr. Ramesh Kumar provided insights into the scientific benefits of yoga and pranayama (breathing exercises). He explained how regular yoga practice helps in reducing stress, improving focus, and enhancing overall work efficiency, particularly during long hours in office settings. Participants were guided through simple yet effective asanas and breathing techniques that can be practiced even during short breaks at work.
All officers and staff of the Ministry actively participated in the session, including Shri A.B. Acharya, Director; Shri Sanjeev, Director (NIC); Shri Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Secretary; and Shri S.S. Patra, Deputy Secretary, along with other officials and employees.
The interactive workshop encouraged participants to embrace yoga as a tool for work-life balance, promoting a healthy lifestyle while meeting the demands of public service. Dr. Ramesh Kumar also shared practical tips for incorporating mindfulness and breathing exercises into routine office hours to combat fatigue and improve concentration.
The initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to fostering employee well-being through traditional and time-tested practices like yoga. As the world prepares to observe International Yoga Day on June 21, such programs reinforce the universal appeal and practical relevance of yoga in modern professional life.
