JUNE 18: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir, under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is forging a fresh path toward establishing the Union Territory as a rising hub for industrial development. At the NCSS Implementation Conference and Strategy Workshop 2025, held in Srinagar, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary emphasized the game-changing potential of the New Central Sector Scheme (NCSS)-2021 in driving regional economic growth and investment.
Addressing a gathering of key stakeholders, industry experts, and government officials, the Deputy CM underlined the strategic importance of the ₹28,400 crore financial package allocated under the NCSS-2021. He described the scheme as a cornerstone for catalyzing industrial transformation and bringing large-scale employment and infrastructure development to Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy CM Choudhary urged for proactive and accountable industrial governance, stating that timely delivery of incentives and transparent processes would be essential to building investor confidence. He also stressed the importance of seamless coordination among departments, industrial associations, and entrepreneurs to ensure successful implementation of the scheme.
Central to the discussion was the J&K New Industrial Scheme (JKNIS) portal, which is designed to streamline application processes, disbursement of incentives, and project monitoring. Choudhary noted that this digital platform would act as a single-window mechanism, reducing bureaucratic delays and enabling ease of doing business.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly ecosystem, backed by robust infrastructure, policy support, and simplified procedures. He encouraged all stakeholders to actively engage with the reforms and contribute toward positioning J&K as a preferred investment destination.
The conference also featured strategy sessions on attracting sustainable industries, harnessing local talent, and leveraging Jammu and Kashmir’s unique geographic and cultural advantages. The discussions reflected a clear focus on inclusive and long-term industrial growth.
With renewed policy direction and a well-structured implementation roadmap, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir is aiming to rewrite its economic narrative. The NCSS-2021 scheme, with its substantial funding and progressive vision, is poised to play a pivotal role in this transformation, driving the UT toward a prosperous and industrially vibrant future.
