SEP 02: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, accompanied Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah earlier today to assess the situation in flood and rain-affected areas of Jammu. The two leaders interacted with officials overseeing rescue and relief measures and assured the affected communities that the government stands firmly with them in this hour of crisis.

In his statement, the Lieutenant Governor expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and widespread destruction caused by the natural calamity. “My heart goes out to the families who have lost their loved ones and those who have suffered damages to their homes and livelihoods,” he said. He further conveyed that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah have assured full support to ensure immediate relief, restoration of essential infrastructure, and rehabilitation of affected families.

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted that multiple agencies including the Army, Air Force, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the UT Administration have been mobilized. Their combined efforts are focused on evacuation, providing relief materials, and ensuring the safety of people in vulnerable zones.

Shri Sinha stressed that due to unusual climatic patterns, district-level officers must remain alert and monitor the evolving situation round the clock. He appealed to citizens to cooperate with authorities, take necessary precautions, and stay in safe locations until conditions improve.

The administration reaffirmed its commitment to extend every possible assistance to those affected, with priority being given to the restoration of roads, bridges, public services, and housing so that normal life can be restored at the earliest.
