SEP 11: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha visited the health camp at Keso Manhasan, organised by the Health Department in collaboration with AIIMS Jammu, to provide medical support to flood-affected families. During the visit, the Lieutenant Governor interacted with the people undergoing check-ups, listened to their concerns, and assured them of the administration’s full support.
The Lieutenant Governor praised the swift response of the Army, CAPFs, NDRF, and district administration, which played a crucial role in saving lives during the recent spell of incessant rains and floods. He reiterated that the Government of India, in coordination with the J&K Administration, is committed to restoring damaged infrastructure and ensuring complete rehabilitation of the affected families.
Highlighting the severity of the recent calamity, LG Sinha said that the Jammu region has witnessed unprecedented destruction after many years. A joint team from the Centre and UT administration is assessing the damages to essential services, including roads, power, water supply, education, and health infrastructure, across the affected districts. While complete restoration will take time, the administration is prioritising immediate relief and assistance to the population.
Acknowledging the hardships faced by the farming community, the Lieutenant Governor urged farmers to make use of government-backed schemes like the PM Fasal Bima Yojana and the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) to mitigate their losses.
Expressing gratitude to AIIMS Jammu, LG Sinha appreciated the medical team’s efforts in organising the health camp and extending their services to the people of Samba during this challenging time. He informed that AIIMS Jammu will conduct nine more mega health camps, while similar camps are being organised by the J&K Health Department, CAPFs, BSF, CRPF, and the Army. He urged people to actively participate and avail themselves of these healthcare facilities.
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor also visited the Devak Bridge near AIIMS Jammu in Vijaypur, Samba, which suffered damages due to floods. He directed officials to expedite restoration work on the crucial bridge.
