PM Modi and LS Speaker Om Birla Pay Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri

OCT 02:On the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla paid their respectful tributes at the portraits of these eminent leaders in the Central Hall, Samvidhan Sadan, today. The solemn occasion was also attended by Union Ministers Shri Piyush Goyal, Shri Kiren Rijiju, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Members of Parliament, former MPs, and other dignitaries.

Earlier, Shri Om Birla visited Raj Ghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. Speaking at the site, he observed that the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi offer an immortal message to humanity. He emphasized that Gandhi’s principles continue to inspire social, political, and civic life in India, encouraging unity, non-violence, and selfless service.

Shri Birla also remembered Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, highlighting his simplicity, purity, and unwavering devotion to the nation. He praised Shastri Ji’s role in both the freedom struggle and nation-building, noting that his patriotism and determination remain an example for generations to come.

On social media platform ‘X’, Shri Birla shared a message paying tribute to both leaders. He wrote: “Tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on his birth anniversary. His powerful values gave new direction and energy to the Indian freedom struggle. At his call, millions of Indians united and moved forward toward the goal of independence. Gandhi’s life and teachings are a living inspiration for social, political, and civic life.”

Regarding Shastri Ji, he added: “A heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, a symbol of simplicity, purity, and unparalleled devotion to the nation. From the freedom struggle to nation-building, he played a vital role in India’s progress. The nation will always remember Shastriji, a man of unwavering patriotism, determination, and simplicity.”

The tribute ceremony underscored the nation’s enduring respect and admiration for the two leaders, whose vision and values continue to guide India’s democratic and social fabric.
