OCT 17:Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA), Shri Abdul Rahim Rather, interacted with media persons ahead of the upcoming Assembly Session, underlining the crucial role of the media in fostering transparency, accountability, and informed public discourse in a vibrant democracy.
During the interaction, the Speaker appreciated the consistent efforts of journalists in ensuring that the public remains informed about the functioning of democratic institutions and legislative proceedings. He described the media as the bridge between the legislature and the people, emphasizing that its constructive role helps strengthen the democratic framework.
Shri Rather assured complete support and cooperation to journalists for the smooth coverage of Assembly proceedings. He directed concerned departments to ensure the availability of all necessary facilities, including dedicated workspaces, better communication setups, and improved logistics for media personnel covering the session.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to transparent governance, the Speaker reiterated that the Assembly would continue to remain open and responsive to public concerns through free and fair media reporting. He also expressed hope that media coverage of legislative debates would help create greater awareness among citizens about policy decisions, developmental priorities, and welfare initiatives.
